Independent Learning

KS3 and KS4

In Science students will receive a variety of homework.  A flavour of which and expectations of deadlines can be seen below:

Key word definition homework to be set per topic. Week One: learning the spellings, followed by finding and learning the definitions.  This will then to be tested during the ‘Do it Now’ tasks in subsequent lessons.

Homework to consolidate learning from the lesson will be set by teaching staff with a deadline of one week.

Every 2-3 weeks students will have topic tests in Science and their homework will be to revise for these.  Revision will be written in student planners.  Under-performance in the topic tests will result in after school intervention, therefore, students need to ensure they revise effectively.  Science support is available for any student Monday – Thursday, this has to be arranged with their teacher.

Occasionally students may be set a longer term homework e.g. research ‘mass spectrometry’ the students will then present their findings.  This type of homework will have deadlines of up to 3 weeks.
