Student selected as Ball Girl for huge Nottingham Tennis Tournament!

Isabella has been selected as one of only 50 for third year in a row. (Whole School - 13/03/2017)

Newark Academy is pleased to announce that Isabella has been selected to be a Ball Girl for the upcoming WTA International Tennis event at Nottingham. The competition will take place in June, where the British number one and world number 10, Johana Konta, will be competing.

Isabella has been selected from over 200 people who applied for the 50 places available, and will attend monthly training sessions before the event. This is Isabella third year at this event which will take part at the Nottingham Tennis Centre from the 10th to 18th of June and will be shown live on BT Sport.

“I felt really amazed and excited when I found out that I was selected to be a ball girl at the Nottingham WTA event. It is a great and fantastic opportunity to be on court with some of the worlds best players,” said Isabella.

In order to be chosen, she took part in a vigorous selection process. First of all Isabella completed a questionnaire sent by the LTA requesting applications for this year’s event. She then had to attend a selection session at the Nottingham Tennis Centre to see if she had the correct ability and skills to take part. She was then chosen as one of just 50 that made it through from over 200 children that applied.

Last year Isabella was thrilled to be on court alongside former World number one Caroline Wozniacki and she is excited for this years tournament.
