Famous band visits Newark Academy to help tackle Cyber-Bullying (Whole School - 11/11/2016)

As part of Newark Academy’s anti-bullying campaign, the school welcomed in a well known band to entertain the students. The Half Eight came in on Monday 7th November to perform a number of well known hits to years 7, 8 and 9. The three-piece boy band has previously supported 5 Seconds of Summer so the students were thoroughly looking forward to their performance and the band did not disappoint!

The aim of the day was to focus on cyber-bullying and they looked at online safety, giving lots of useful tips and pointers on how students can use the internet whilst protecting themselves. They also talked in-depth about what cyber-bullying is and the negative effects of this on an individuals mental health. The band finished by giving helpful advice on how students can tackle cyber-bullying and any other type of bullying, which compliments all of the hard work the peer mentors (led by head boy and girl Ali Miah and Millie Parker) are doing in school with their anti-bullying campaign #stopthehate.
