Independent Learning

The independent learning opportunities that we set within business studies curriculum is to support our students further to develop our students beyond the school with specialist knowledge to equip them with the life skills that they will need to ensure access to future opportunities.

Through a ‘Read, Watch, View’ approach we encourage our students to explore different business contexts through use of real life examples and exposure to key entrepreneurs in the business world and through problem solving scenarios, which will help students to develop personal qualities such as aspiration, teamwork & resilience.

KS4 classes are set additional independent learning opportunities and guidance to support the ongoing development of their exam content. This is generally done through using past papers with a variety of different revision topics. These are to support students to develop their exam technique and to provide recall opportunities to recall prior knowledge. Past exam papers are set on Satchel for students to access at home. Students also use an online programme GCSE pod to support with revision, where they have access to online videos and mini quizzes to consolidate their knowledge.

KS5 classes are also set exam style questions that support with the core knowledge from lessons. In addition they are set research tasks and reading that consolidates prior knowledge. Students also use an online programme Tutor2u to support with revision, where they have access to online videos and mini quizzes to consolidate their knowledge.

Students can access Satchel one for more guidance on independent learning in business studies.
